Wondering what’s P90x? It’s a home exercise that is developed by Tony Horton with Beachbody CEO Carl Daikeler. The P90x claims to significantly improve physical fitness in 90 days with nutrition and supplementary plan.
The P90x combines different types of exercises (strength training, cardio, yoga, plyometrics and stretching). The program not only consists of these different exercises but also include nutrition guide, fitness plan, calendar and a series of DVD videos that show variety of techniques that features Tony Horton as the instructor. Examples of the techniques demonstrated are workouts that require weight lifting, and the video will show you how by exercising using an elastic resistant band. The P90x program cycle goes by exercising six days per week in 13 weeks. This program has three rotations or emphases which are called the “classic”, “lean” and “doubles”, you get to choose depending and according to your personal goals.
The DVD shows 12 workouts, depending on what muscle you target to develop, and each targets different skills and muscles. It’s easy to follow and it doesn’t consume all your time because each workout is only less than an hour in duration.
The nutrition plan which is included in the P90x plan is composed of three phases. For the first phase (first 30 days) you should have a higher protein intake than carbohydrates. This is to teach you of the relationship between carbohydrates and energy. The second phase requires you to increase your intake of carbohydrates. If you have accomplished the second phase, then you are ready for the third phase which you are required to take higher carbohydrate “athlete’s” diet. You should go through the phases according to your development rate in program change.
The suggested equipments for the P90x are: mat, dumbbells and a pull-up bar for strength exercises, yoga blocks for the yoga exercises, and a sturdy chair.  So if you have all of these and you are mentally prepared and motivated go ahead and try it!
